Transformation from Trauma

Intensive therapy for busy people
seeking healing and happiness.

Why Intensive Retreats?

EMDR intensive appointments support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.

When packaged, these three to four hour sessions optimize results. Packaging allows for a known time frame and cost. It creates sustained focus on specific objectives, making for efficient results.

I live close to the Smithsonian museums.

]Let's say I wanted to explore my way through the 325, 000 square feet of exhibits at the Museum of Natural History once per week on my hourlong lunch break.

Arriving each week, I would need to reorient myself to pick up where I left off last time. After losing myself in exploring and learning the exhibits, I need to reorient to the present and give myself enough time to return to the exit. My actual focused time is less than the hour scheduled.

Typical therapy appointments allow around 40 minutes of focused wok in a 60-minute session. Intensive therapy allows for a continued exploration effort for a more extended period.

Instead of 160 minutes of focused work in four 60-minute sessions, one four-hour intensive allows for 220 minutes of focused processing. That is an hour more processing in the same amount of time. It also allows deeper processing to occur sooner; often allowing insights that typically arise only after months of therapy.

Have you ever experienced an instance when you knew your response was more extreme than the situation called for but didn't know why the intensity was so strong? Stress is often the cause.

Stress might be the building pressure of life until it reaches "the straw that broke the camel's back." It could also be stress that is a result of a trauma - a single event (e.g., an accident, being the victim of a crime, past or current loss of a person, a relationship, or a stage of life change) or compounded stressful life experiences (e.g., child abuse, abusive relationship, or continually feeling unsafe).

These past or current experiences can make it feel like you are carrying an emotional backpack full of rocks. I work with clients to unpack these rocks by identifying what is getting in their way, helping them chart their course to healing, and journeying with them to completion.

Together, we can unload that backpack and move you from feeling weighed down to learning to cope with and process stress. This freedom is life-changing!

Leah is a great listener and objective thinker to directly address all the issues I was facing when I started working with her. We unearthed most of the things I have struggled with in the past and we spoke through them for me to find myself more and understand my own personality.
