Why Intensive Retreats?
EMDR intensive appointments support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.
When packaged, these three to four hour sessions optimize results. Packaging allows for a known time frame and cost. It creates sustained focus on specific objectives, making for efficient results.
I live close to the Smithsonian museums.
Let's say I wanted to explore my way through the 325, 000 square feet of exhibits at the Museum of Natural History once per week on my hourlong lunch break.
Arriving each week, I would need to reorient myself to pick up where I left off last time. After losing myself in exploring and learning the exhibits, I need to reorient to the present and give myself enough time to return to the exit. My actual focused time is less than the hour scheduled.
Typical therapy appointments allow around 40 minutes of focused wok in a 60-minute session. Intensive therapy allows for a continued exploration effort for a more extended period.
Instead of 160 minutes of focused work in four 60-minute sessions, one four-hour intensive allows for 220 minutes of focused processing. That is an hour more processing in the same amount of time. It also allows deeper processing to occur sooner; often allowing insights that typically arise only after months of therapy
